5 COOL THINGS TO DO IN ROME

A FEW UNIQUE IDEAS FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP TO ROME, ITALY!

I hope that these the suggestions for travel don’t go out of date as these suggestions are the result of our Roma trip in September of 2015. I’m that type of travel blogger nowadays providing city guides that have been around for years. -\_(tsu)_*

In a flashy romance I was smitten fast and hard for this charming, historical city. It was our first stop during our three-week Italian honeymoon. We were there for five nights in Romeand after that a extra night in Rome near the final stage of our journey before returning back home.

An initial trip to a place that is renowned such as Rome will require the usual tourism activities. We wanted to visit Rome’s Colosseum, Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Victor Emmanuel II Monument, Saint Peter’s Square, and many more. It was my first trip in Rome, however since Adam was there a few times prior We were also trying to find some different options for things to see as well as things you can do. We had the most amazing time and I wanted to share some ideas to help you make the most of your visit to Rome. Hope you enjoy!

Go To A Football (Soccer) Game

One of my latest travel traditions is to attend sports events in the area I’m in. What’s the matter? I got married to an intelligent brother This is my life right now. Goooooo Sports! A game at home gives you a chance to connect with the locals, and is an exciting time. We were not close to Adam’s favorite Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, several of our friends provided us with a truly thoughtful wedding present that included Two tickets to the soccer game at the Stadio Olimpico! The tickets were sent to the hotel, and the whole thing, you must have seen Adam’s expression. It was incredible.

As we walked towards the stadium, clouds began to gather and drizzle began, which was the first time we’d experienced rain on our journey. It grew into full-on downpour as we walked to the stadium. The downpour was so massive and heavy, it was like a movie set rain. We were a bit lost and went out to what may be the whole long length of the field looking for our entry point. Once we reached our location and were wet to the point of soaking, it was like jumping into the water with our clothing on. Our spots were right next to the field, but the seats were open to the elements, which is why we picked a few seats closer to the back of our seats to dry, and possibly to warm up. Our section was fairly sparse in crowd, but just to the left of us was the local crowd, which is surrounded by glass partitions.

The match was Lazio in a match against Udinese and being able to witness the enthusiasm of the Italian supporters was the most enjoyable spectators you could imagine. There were so many hand gestures. Every play, move, and even call was a matter of debate for those who were there. We watched as a group of friends argued and moved seats. It was too hot to keep watching the match in a row. But don’t worry it was all laughing and handshakes after the game was finished.

We were amazed by the variety of concessions available on the field. Adam had a drink while I snuck in an espresso drink and popcorn. We sat in awe of Lazio scoring. We could watch the thousands of fans rushing to the field in celebration. Lazio won the win in their home stadium at 2-0. It was our favorite night in Rome.

Explore The Monti District

When I did some research for our final day of fun in Rome prior to our flight home I came across some reports of a neighbourhood known as Monti. It’s actually very close to the Colosseum, however, it’s the kind of place you’d never know existed until you actually looked. This is the reason why the locals are aplenty.

We started our evening with a glass of drinks from the nearby bar and then sat by the fountain, talking and reminiscing about our journey. People watching was great from the steps. I am awed by watching the world pass through a city. After our wine and appies, we ate some food in a restaurant, and then explored the streets to discover the other things that the area offered. The clothes stores were incredible I could have spent hours and a lot of Euros perusing those vintage stores.

In essence, Monti is a neighbourhood I would recommend if want something with a little more character than the popular hotspots.

Hire A Private Vatican Tour Guide

The guide we had was recommended through my close friend’s mother. I’m not sure the specifics of how she came across this man but he’s an interesting retired professor who truly helped make our visit to the Vatican an unforgettable experience. He was somewhat insensitive with his questions, as professors are often however it made us laugh through the whole trip and kept us entertained.

A private guide is the best method to enjoy a complete and fascinating Vatican experience without having to join a large crowd. If you’re not able to afford it the alternative is to buy the “Skip The Line’ ticket. It’s worth the extra cash to skip the wait times!

Wander Trestavere At Night

I am a sucker for how a city comes in the night, particularly in a city as historic as Rome. A night out in Trestavere is essential. Trestavere is where people go for drinks and food, and gather. You’ll see a mixture of locals and tourists, however, we have always loved being with the crowd as the sun set Their energy is what helps us battle jet slowdown!

Eat Like A Local

Food is a major aspect of our travels. I don’t like wasting a meal in an unattractive restaurant. It happens at times and can be extremely frustrating. It’s sometimes difficult to determine the proper equilibrium between a constant search for top reviewed restaurants, and then discovering a treasure. Based on the location we’re in the best option is to try a little of both. It’s not sure of the best food (would you make a decision just relying on Yelp reviews? ) However, you’re not totally preventing yourself from an amazing experience. And it’s those surprisingly amazing food choices that truly create a memorable moment.

This particular picture was taken on our final day in Rome. We took an Taxi for a ride to Flavio Al Velavevodetto and stuffed our stomachs with a final pasta dish. The food was topped off with delicious grilled peppers, and bread for starters with, and of course.

If you’ve not already look at the VLOG we recorded of our Rome part during our honeymoon. Every time, it gives a fresh perspective and really helps these photos come to life.
