These are a few of my essential summer items to pack.
The post began as one of my May favorites and is hilarious since we’re now in June. So obviously, I’m not a good writer however, what else is new? !
Given all the travels I’ve taken recently I thought I’d list some things I’d highly recommend taking for your next vacation. It’s not an eclectic mix however I truly enjoy each one and believe that you could too!
A SLEEP MASK THAT HEALTHS Saje Shout Eye Eye Herbal Shade
Honestly? The most enjoyable $12 I’ve spent! I’m convinced that this is the reason behind sleeping soundly on planes today. This eye mask is very comfy and the soothing herbal scent immediately makes me feel calm.
MY GO-TO SNEAKER FOR CASUAL USE* Vionic Joey Sneaker
I first saw them at the Julia Engel website in pink and it was it was love at first sight. I ended up buying these in light grey and it’s so pretty neutral colour. They’re Vionic company and they are a must for arch support that is what, as you’ll read in my previous article I absolutely require for all the walking I do while traveling. I’ve found that they’re exactly to size, and since they’re made from made of leather, they are able to accommodate my large feet. They’re also extremely light at 7 pounds. which makes them perfect to carry around or take when traveling. They’re extremely comfortable and are the ideal catchall sneakers for trips.
The best travel yoga Mat Explore Travel Mats by Lole
I was looking for a yoga mat which was as light and used the smallest amount of space. After doing a lot of investigation, I came across Lole’s Explore Yoga Mat by Lole is the most suitable option in terms of cost and fast delivery. It weighs 2.2 pounds, is non-toxic and PVC-free and, most importantly, is extremely gripping! I was able to pack it up into my suitcase to travel to Hawaii and practice yoga on the grass on the beach each day. It was paradise!
HOW TO STOP LEG CHAFING | Body Glide Anti Chafing Stick
I’m not trying to be dramatic in my statement that this Glide Anti Chafing Stick and the Body Glide anti Chafing Stick has changed my life. I used to be terrified of summertime! My legs rub together and sweat, so naked legs and hot temperatures were my most dreadful nightmare. I’m also blessed with stretching marks that are visible on my thighs’ inner sides and thighs, which means that the chafing is extremely painful. OUCH! I’ve tried wearing shorts with skirts and dresses, but it’s bulky and too hot for melting days. I discovered an anti-chafing stick in the running store, and I apply it on the inside of my thighs. It creates an effective layer of protection on the skin and glides across the skin. I apply it again during the course of my day however my legs have to be dry before applying. If you’re just out of the pool or sweating the coating will not adhere and won’t work. However, this product has been a huge hit and I carry it wherever I go. I carry the bag in my back for days out and have a smaller version in my bag for evenings in summer.
Compression Zipper Cubes for Packing
Cubes for packing are a frequent traveler’s most trusted companion. I borrowed similar to these cubes to use for the duration of my Eurotrip and they’ve transformed my packing. I could squeeze two weeks of clothing footwear, accessories, and shoes that included both cold and hot climates into one carry-on. Cubes of packing are magical and you’ll need them when you travel!
A VERSATILE BASIC | Lululemon It’s A Tie Tank
I was searching for a summer/workout tank that was attractive and also practical. I came across the ‘It’s a Tie Tank’ which I recently shared on my IG stories. It has an open back and is tied at the bottom, but it can be looped and tied in the front to provide more stability (perfect for yoga class). It’s light and it took up little space in my bag, and was less than $40, so definitely had to get it in black, too. Because it’s so comfortable and stylish I even wore it at the bars in Thailand several times, paired with adorable shorts and regular bra. I’m telling you, this is my absolute favorite tank for summer!
The perfect book to read When Breath becomes air written by Paul Kalanithi
It is essential to have a great book to take on any travel. I just finished reading the stunning and moving autobiography When Breath becomes air from Paul Kalanithi. I consumed it over two nights. It’s a great flight read, so take a few tissues! It’ll bring you the emotions of loss and life. Thanks for the suggestion, Jess!
What are your favorite summer activities? Would love to know about them in your comments!
In full transparency, I received the shoes. I was intrigued by the sneakers and I contacted VIONIC since I love them . We’ve had collaborations previously ( here and here). It doesn’t alter my opinion of these shoes. but I wanted to let you know that! I love you!
