A few easy and fun Halloween costumes for fellow people who are procrastinators.

This post is in collaboration in partnership with Value Village Thrift. As always, all opinions are mine alone.

Dressing up for Halloween can be fun, but I’m the person who is trying to find a costume by the time October is halfway through. What’s up with that? I work most effectively under pressure of deadlines.

I’m amazed that I’ve never written about it in the past however my favorite method to choose costumes is to be imaginative with used objects and mix the pieces with those that I have in my closet. I create my own costumes whenever it’s possible (depending on the amount of time I’m willing to give myself lol) and it’s fun, affordable and low-cost method to celebrate Halloween! It’s especially helpful if you require several costumes to play, work or trick-or-treating.

I’m not even able to describe how many costumes I was swarmed with at the local Value Village! It was so inspiring, I could have created a dozen costumes If I had the time. Growing up, I was limited in my options, however there was a lot of potential in every direction. The ’90s remain an enormous fashion, and, I’d say that in addition to the classics, I have a myriad of people from the decade in my mind. I thought about buying an coat of red velvet with black trim, which was reminiscent like Cher Horowitz’s Alaia dress from the party scene. A pleated skirt, paired with an wig and top (perhaps stained with tea) could have been an excellent Mrs. Doubtfire. In the past, I found an old red trench coat and cape and wore it to the movies as Carmen Sandiego and they had the exact clothes to recreate the look! There were plenty of options for those who wanted to stay simple (like an old-fashioned hippie or cowgirl) or to keep with the current trends within pop-culture (Ariana Grande, Queer Eye group in Queer Eye, etc).

The office-friendly look of the ’50s is just so much fun! I bought this poodle skirt at $9.99 along with the pink cardigan (worn reversed) at $4.99. The style reminds me much of my dancing days, and I’ve had the Grease music playing in my head since I took these pictures. In addition it’s an Pink Ladies or Sandra Dee outfit would be also simple to create using Value Village items!

Adam named this costume”pregnant witch” with a baby in the making! I like the simple idea of finding a black outfit and then creating a classic outfit out of it. This year, I added ears , and dressed as cat and mixed it up by wearing this spooky outfit. The velvet skirt with the an ruffle hem was the catalyst for my idea and together with the cap, this costume was to $11. The skirt is too large however I tied it by using a hair elastic at the back. Everything came out, because pregnancy can make fitting standard clothes a bit difficult. A classic costume for a witch like this is ideal for workplace and for Halloween trick or trick or treating. Actually, I’d take this costume to a party with an evening with friends too, and why wouldn’t I? It’s very comfy! If you want to take up the ante, you can create the black broom with it this year.

It’s no time to put some amazing outfits for this weekend or the 31st. If you choose to buy second-hand clothes and you’re not looking to shell out a lot. What will you dress up for this year? Happy and safe Halloween All the Witches!
