Let’s talk about repurposing bump-friendly clothes!
This post is in collaboration together with Value Village. As always, the opinions expressed are mine alone.
The time of pregnancy is one of the most ideal occasions to buy second-hand! We’ll be living in our tiny apartment and therefore, less is more. This will be an uphill climb to say the least, but we’re trying to avoid getting overwhelmed by everything we “have to be able to” in the case of the baby. That’s all baby-related stuff (for baby’s nursery), clothes devices, toys, and so on.) and, of obviously, maternity clothes. Sure, I’ve bought some of the latest clothing items to make room for the baby bump, but I’ve discovered a lot of satisfaction in thrifting clothes that work with my evolving body.
Cost is another major worry for us since there’s a belief that children are costly. The thought of investing in a lot of brand new , high-end baby clothes is…crazy. The fact that any clothing made for the bump is designed to be worn only for a couple of months indicates I’ve been searching for pieces I can use both now and after only these nine months.
Every one of the Value Village locations may not offer maternity-specific clothing however it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find some amazing pieces to add to your wardrobe when you’re trying to dress your changing body. Here are some of the latest discoveries and the reasons they are perfect for a bump!
Search for open Front Jackets and Sweaters
What is so adorable about this faux-leather Zara coat? I’ve been feeling a bit numb about how short sweaters look with bumps (I knowit’s not a good idea however, I’ll bet you with this) So the wide draped waterfall creates a elegant silhouette that highlights the bump. It’s been perfect in my case to put on coats, jackets and sweaters that could be worn open. Let the baby bump breathe!
Get Oversized
I’m grateful for the variety of sizes at my favorite Value Village location (if you’re local, you’ll find the Coquitlam store located on United Boulevard). I’m a size Large and not quite fitting in the current size, I depend on XL and higher to find items that can work with my bump, especially when I want to get the look of an oversized. I was thrilled to find the black velvet button-up from the plus-size section just a few weeks ago. With the sleeves up and tied it’s an incredible fitting! I’m sure it was less than the price of $10. That’s an incredible price for silk! It will become a regular piece for me through the remainder of my pregnancy, since I always require something a bit longer and larger to wear with the maternity jeans and leggings. The most appealing aspect? I’m sure to rock this shirt postpartum and afterward.
The previously loved blouse is such a versatile staple. I love the way that just changing shoes and layering on a coat can transform the look completely and create a more casual look.
Are you able to share any advice or tricks for thrifting your maternity clothing? I’d be interested in hearing about them in the comments section below!
